The cost of roaming varies according to the plan you are on. Here is the per minute cost to roam for the different plans:
The 12, TnT 1200: 29 cents per minute
Unlimited plans: 20 cents per minute
The Standard Plan: 29 cents per minute
You are charged roaming for either calls placed or calls taken. The charge is just for talk time, not for the entire time you are in the roaming area. Texting does not have a roaming fee. You will have to dial twice to place a call in the roaming area. This is to help alert you that you are going to be charged for placing the call.
If you still have texts on your plan you can text in a roaming area with no extra charge. Of course, if you have run out of texts you will be charged your normal overage fee. Data is not available in roaming.
How do I keep my phone from roaming?
Go into the menus for your phone. Most likely something like:
Menu, Settings, Networks, Mobile Networks, System Select. Then select HOME ONLY. This will force the phone to stay on the Page Plus network. However, in an emergency if you are in a roaming area and need to place a call you will need to go back and select either Automatic A or Automatic B.
